A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is very much like a box scheme. Basically, you pay a weekly/monthly/annual subscription to receive a share of the harvest, which will be a large variety of seasonal veggies, all produced on Frith Farm.
However, being a CSA Frith is more than your average box scheme; members not only receive a share of the harvest they are also welcome to join in the farming process too. CSA thrives on community involvement, we run regular volunteer days and a workshare scheme were 6 members have the chance to work a 3.5 hour session per week for a complimentary veg box. Members can visit the farm and an active social area will be maintained for members use.
Although to be a member it is not necessary to be involved in the running of the farm. Some people want and deserve access to high quality local food but have too many other commitments to be involved in the production process, therefore a financial contribution is enough.
As the farm will be directly accountable to the members we strive to produce fresh, high quality nutrient dense food that is grown with a respect for natural habitat and without the use of any pesticides or chemical fertilisers.
To subscribe go to the ‘Sign Up’ page. When your subscription is confirmed, you can collect produce directly from the farm or from our pick-up points in Hull (Kingswood and Newland Avenue)
Your subscription starts week beginning 25th June 2018.
Please note: we expect members to sign up for the full 26 week season. Members can arrange for a friend to collect their vegetables when they are away. We will need three weeks’ notice for cancellation of a vegetable share, this gives us time to recruit someone to take your place.
Signing up to the box scheme offers the best value, however, if you do not want to commit to the membership scheme, you can buy our fresh produce from our market stall outside Zoo cafe starting at Grain Wholefoods (Hull) and Venessa’s Deli (Beverley).
If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us.

We aim to provide the freshest organically grown produce for our members 26 weeks a year; you will receive a weekly share of seasonal produce; which will be a wide and diverse range of veggies that will satisfy you each week.
We only supply what is grown on the farm, therefore, you will notice the contents of the box slowly change through the season. It is such a beautiful thing eating according to the season; everything is grown and harvested at the right time, resulting in far superior quality and flavor than artificially grown produce or food that has traveled for days. Being a CSA member has all the benefits of owning your own allotment without the hard work.
The reason we grow over a 26 week season rather than all year round is that the land has a clay soil and is fairly low lying; we are not sure how the crops will fair over harsh wet winters; we need to do some more winter trials to find whether we can reliably produce top quality food all year.
As we are also keen cooks, we will share the recipe ideas we use, the produce will come with 2 or 3 recipes each week according to what produce is available, these will be posted on the ‘recipe’ page on the website (to save using lots of paper). If member’s have any recipe ideas of their own please share them with us via e-mail or social media, we will publish them on the website.
The chart below shows what produce is available and when;

The Workshare scheme is for volunteers who commit to a weekly volunteering slot of 3 to 4 hours to receive a complimentary veg box. This year we are aiming for 8 workshare volunteers.
To be a workshare volunteer you will need to come to the farm for a trial to check that the work will suit you. We recommend that you work on a harvest day so you can also take your produce home with you.
We also have one Salad workshare available; this will involve helping us maintain our salad terrace, in return you will receive a 250g bag of the best salad you can get your hands on.
